Using story + technology to challenge community traditions
In a sub-Saharan region there was a widow who became pregnant. The community met and planned to stone her for her adultery.
Followers of Jesus tried to stop this happening. Eventually someone thought to send out via Blue Tooth technology on their mobile phones a section of the Magdalena video showing the story in John 8 of the woman caught in adultery. Jesus had challenged those locals that only someone who had no sin could throw a stone. One by one, from the oldest to the youngest, the accusers went away.
This story led to a change in people’s view and the community chose not to kill the widow. As a result this woman came to know Jesus.
If you want to change people’s worldview and values, change their stories.
Wonderful to hear how God worked in this situation. I trust that the impact was far greater than the sparing of this woman’s life (which is huge). May that video clip from the Magdalena film spur great interest in Jesus.
For those interested, you can get instant access to both the Jesus and Magdalena films in every translation on your iOS or Android phone or tablet though the JesusFilmMedia app.
