A long road trip is a training opportunity

A week ago a Bible storying trainer came to visit our Bible college and we asked if she could share with the tribal students about storytelling. We learned about why storying is so effective and also how to learn and discuss a story.

Then the students needed to go on a 12 hour road journey and their teacher used the time to teach the students more about how to learn and use Bible stories. This enabled them to help teach a session at the church camp on the method.

While two of our students were leading a small group of women with the story of the Pharisee and tax collector (Luke 18:9-14), a woman wept, convicted by the story. She had had an abortion and she felt that she could not be forgiven by God. The students were able to see first hand the amazing impact of using Bible stories.

On the journey there and back Rich was able to teach the driver how to use stories to reach his friends. His excitement was palpable. God had changed this man’s life dramatically in the last year since becoming a Christian.

Previously he didn’t know what to do when his non-Christian friends came to his house. Now he is eager to use what he has learned about using Bibles stories when his friends visit. Many of our students are practicing using Bible stories and our prayer is that they will train many others in the future.
