Dental students telling stories on a beach
A group of dental students were on a camp in Kep, the southern part of Cambodia overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. They had just learned how to do storying and were instructed to practice the story they had learned with those who were at the beach. The sky was blue, the sea was calm; it was a lovely day for swimming. A youth was sitting on the stone ledge staring at the sea. Apparently this boy has come to the beach with his family but he forgot to bring his swimming trunks. When he was asked if he would be willing to listen to a story he agreed. A student shared the creation story with him, he showed interest and his brothers joined in to listen for a while.
After sharing with him, the students went to look for a place to sit. They found an empty spot, and nearby two women with two kids were sitting on the steps enjoying the scenery. One of the women, SA, was asked if she would like to listen to a story and agreed. One of the students, Y, shared with SA and her son the story of creation. They showed a lot of interest so the student taught them the story so that they could tell the story to others. The student also read with SA’s 11 year old son a tract about Jesus and the way of salvation. SA then told them that when she was young she had been to church and heard Bible stories, but since getting married and moving to Kep she has not gone to church. An OMF missionary based in Kep was at the beach that day to have fellowship with the students and she exchanged phone numbers with SA. SA is now undergoing weekly basic Christianity sessions with the missionary. It was Y’s first experience in sharing a Bible story. She is still a seeker but God used her to reach out to another person who is seeking God. Some people call this serendipity or a pleasant surprise, but we believe that God orchestrates these events. Please pray that SA, her son and her husband (whom SA said is open to the gospel), will be disciples of Christ in Cambodia. God is at work and we are glad to be His instruments of blessing to others.
Who could you train? If you know one story you can start training others!

I’m sitting in Australia on the bike at the gym reading this wonderful account. Praise God!! I need more boldness and less doubt.
