Sharing with an overseas visitor

A girl named Sarah moved into my home in Perth fresh off the plane from Hong Kong last October. She came to Australia on a working holidays visa. She had quit her job in Hong Kong and seemed to be searching for meaning and purpose in life. She was keen to know more about the Christian faith. She would follow me to church weekly and attend my bible study group even though she understood very little. I have been praying for an opportunity to share the gospel with her since she moved in.

One Sunday, we had holy communion at church. After the service she asked me what holy communion meant. After a quick explanation (I was thinking to myself, where do I start!?), I asked her whether she would like to hear stories. She was very keen and over the next month I went through the bible overview stories with her. Each time she would ask, ‘What’s the next story?’

Last Sunday was her 24th birthday. My church pastor came for a visit and shared with her the ‘lost’ stories from Luke 15. After that she understood the Father’s heart for her and invited Jesus into her heart.
