A storying group for school parents
I started a Bible storying group two years ago. Each class is 15 weeks long to go along with the school semesters. I have led the group four times in the two years. My goal in starting the group was to share with unbelievers about our great and mighty God who loves us and wants everyone to be saved.
Ann’s daughter started reading her Bible. Her Mom heard about our class and decided to join it in order to be able to carry on conversations with her daughter about the Bible (of which Ann knew nothing). She joined the class and listened to the 14 stories. By sharing the stories with her daughter that she learned in the class, whenever her daughter brought up a problem from her school life to Ann, she was able to apply the stories and God’s words to her daughter’s situations.
She learned to discuss the stories and life lessons with her, comfort and encourage her. Her daughter had peace and hope after the discussions. On week 15, we shared the gospel and Ann had sparks in her mind but thought it was too soon to believe, she needed to think about it some more.
Stories bearing fruit
In January, she found out her mother had pancreatic cancer and only had six months to a year to live. After crying, fretting and worrying, she decided to put her faith in Jesus and prayed all of the time. After that, she found out her mother’s growth was benign. She felt God’s peace and comfort in her heart after she believed in God. God answered her prayers. She and her daughter (who also became a believer) were baptized on Easter Sunday morning.
Passing on what they’ve learned
She started being trained to lead the storying class right away. She is going to help lead it when our next class starts. God is bringing people to himself through sharing Bible stories.
