A child shall teach them

Grace’s mother has been experimenting with Bible storytelling for several years. Nine year-old Grace decided she wanted to try to tell the Creation story to some of her school friends. She prepared it herself and then asked some of her friends. Some said no, but three girls – two from a Hindu background and one from a Muslim background – agreed to hear a story in their one mutual lunch hour.

Grace was pleased that it wasn’t a one-off opportunity because they wanted to hear more. Grace’s Mum helped her learn the next stories using some cartoon strips to remind her of the main points of the story. She has now told five stories.

Grace has been encouraged by her friend’s responses. She drew a picture of herself sitting in a group. On the picture she has written, “God helps me teach my friends about God” and “God is still at work today.”

Do we limit who can pass on stories? Can not this group become a church plant? If Grace can do this in the Lord’s strength, could we? Where could you tell stories?

Update 2014: Grace now has a group re-started and has had up to eleven students in the group!
