A God-given opportunity at the swimming pool

Each week I would go to a swimming pool to get some exercise. Over time I chatted about inconsequential things with the ticket seller. One day he asked, “What’s that picture on the wall? I know it is famous and that it is a religious picture.”

Looking sideways I saw a print of Da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper.’ How did it end up on the wall of a swimming pool in a country area in Taiwan?

I said, “I could tell you what the picture is but actually that story is at the end of a series of 14 that I tell. Would you be willing to let me tell you a story each time I come for a swim?”

The ticket seller was more than willing and so we began a 3 month storytelling series that finally reached story 13 and the “Last Supper.” Because the ticket seller had heard a whole series he was able to really appreciate the story. He was even able to guess who was Judas and Peter.

Along the way he had asked many questions, read parts of the Bible and thought hard. He later heard a second set of stories on Daniel. Sadly, the pool closed and we lost contact but I trust that he will never forget those stories. God’s word will continue to change his heart because that is the nature of it.

See the videos on this website for both the set of 14 stories and 6 stories on Daniel.
