A story ‘concert’ to start people searching

At the CMS training college in Australia, each semester of trainees takes a course in Bible storytelling. Over a number of weeks they learn to craft stories and tell them well, while keeping them faithful to the Bible text. They also practice their stories in different contexts.

At the end, we invite Christian and non-Christian friends of a variety of ethnic backgrounds to join us for a meal – maybe thirty to fifty people. And we do a Bible storying panorama, presenting a summary of Christ’s life through seven or eight stories, told by different people. It takes about 20 minutes and is a compelling and moving presentation. Sometimes our guests video the whole thing on their phones. At the end there’s a brief summary and invitation to learn more, and take a written Gospel. Then we relax and continue the conversations over dessert and coffee. Sometimes it’s followed by a musical performance. It’s always a highlight of the course.

Could you do something like this in your context? Excellent idea for a church dinner leading to people doing ‘Uncover’ or ‘Christianity Explored’ or ‘Alpha’.
