Aren’t you afraid of the end of the world?

Last December as I stopped to talk with the Tall’s on the side of the road, Mr Tall suddenly asked, “Are you frightened?”

“Of what?”

“That the world is ending this Friday?”

This couple have heard many sets of stories over the last few years but are afraid to follow Jesus because they fear their parents angry response.

“Jesus tells us that no one knows when the world will end, so I know it won’t be this Friday, 21st December, but as we don’t know when Jesus will return he might come tomorrow or next week or in one hundred years. Are you ready for his return if he comes today?”

Mr Tall suddenly asked, “What is our ark?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, when the world ended last time, God prepared an ark for Noah to escape the flood.”

“What do you think is our ark now?”

Mrs Tall said, “We have to trust in Jesus and then we’ll always be safe.”
