I couldn’t understand anything at church
An international student at a Sydney University was contacted by Christians. When asked to attend a Bible study she refused. It turned out that she’d attended church once in the past, “But I couldn’t understand anything they were talking about.” “But I couldn’t understand anything they were talking about.” The Christian said to her, “What if when we meet up, I just tell you stories from the Bible and then we could discuss it together?” The Christian then gave a sample of storytelling from the Bible and immediately the girl and her friend said, “That’s really interesting and easy to understand, yes I would love to come”. Since then, they have not stopped coming to listen to the stories.
Two Mainland Chinese were met at a church in New Zealand. They were boarding with Christian families and so accompanied them each week to church. They were also trying to read the Chinese Bible. That Sunday there were a lot of songs about a lamb -what could it mean? Did these Christians worship sheep?
They were surprised to meet someone who spoke Chinese. The storyteller asked if she could tell them stories during the sermon and had time to tell a series of Old Testament Bible overview stories. Now they understood and were prepared so that they could begin to understand the Bible.
