A story from the Ukraine
Many Christians dismiss Bible stories as simplistic or ‘for children.’ They may not want to participate in a Bible study group using Bible stories.
Natasha’s experience is common:
Natasha asked her missionary friend whether she should attend the Bible study on Tuesday night.
Missionary: “Sure! A Bible story will be told with discussion.”
Natasha: “But will it be interesting?”
Missionary: “Well, go and call me afterward and let me know what you think.”
Afterward Natasha called, “It was fantastic. I loved it. I laughed. I cried. I couldn’t believe how wise Jesus is.”
What story did Natasha hear and discuss that improved her appreciation of Jesus?
John 8: The woman caught in adultery.
What blocks you from trying story telling in your Bible study groups or in sharing the good news with others?
